Rathbun Marina Monthly Newsletter
May 2013
Hi everyone. We thought we would try and send out a little newsletter on a monthly basis. We hope you find this worth reading.
We sure seem to be waiting quite a long time for the spring weather to arrive. We can all agree that this has been a strange spring. As I type this the forecast is for highs in the 40s for the first week of May. What is up with that? We heard Tom Westbrook call it “Global Weirding.” For us here at the marina, this has caused quite a delay in getting the big boats in the water and would guess that will end up with a crowded ramp and parking lot as soon as the day boaters arrive. Please be patient with us as we move through that.
The lake elevation is up,up,up….General rule is that the Corps can release about a foot of water per week. With the lake 12 ft above normal we are looking towards the end of July for it to get back to normal. That is without any major frog strangler rains.
We are handing out our Pump Off Policy sheets this month. We plan to get one to each slip holder. Just thought it was time to remind everyone that properly pumping out your holding tank is the right thing to do. Dumpin that in the lake…Not So Much! And it is against the law.
As we move into June, we also want to try doing a concierge service for all the docks. We’ll talk a bit more about that next month.
Starting in May, Louie’s new Deli will be opening at 11am. Please stop in for lunch. The Deli hours will settle in based on patronage, weather and all those things that will make it worth while for Tim to be open and have employees there. You all know the food is GREAT!
Lastly…When you see Doug and/or Mike on the new commercial mower….Try to avoid them, don’t honk or yell….I’m thinking that when they snap their head to look or wave, they’ll turn that commercial ZTR mower quick enough to throw themselves off of it.
